Aziz Al Sa’afin has been appointed TVNZ’s Australia Correspondent where he’ll report on the biggest stories of the day coming from across the Tasman.
With over a decade of experience in front of and behind the camera, Aziz has had a varied career covering breaking news and human-interest stories from around Aotearoa and overseas. Aziz joined 1 NEWS in February 2022 as a digital reporter covering everything from cost of living, to health to international affairs for TV and Online, including Breakfast, 1 NEWS at Six, and 1News.co.nz as well as showcasing his social media expertise.
Aziz says, “I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to work across the Tasman and share meaningful stories that hold significance for both New Zealanders on home soil and across the ditch. As we approach an upcoming federal election, witness the development of the AUKUS alliance, and prepare for Australia's Indigenous Voice referendum, which marks the first referendum in over two decades, it is going to be a pivotal time being TVNZ's Australia Correspondent.”
Aziz starts his new role in Sydney in August, taking over from Andrew Macfarlane who will depart TVNZ once his term as correspondent comes to an end.
