The BNZ Breakers are coming to TVNZ live and free for all Kiwi basketball fans

TVNZ will become the free-to-air home of the BNZ Breakers for the 2024/25 season.

All BNZ Breakers regular season games will be available live and free on TVNZ+, as well as being broadcast on TVNZ channels. Full replays will also be available to view on TVNZ+.

TVNZ’s CEO Jodi O’Donnell said, “The BNZ Breakers have a wide and passionate fan base across Aotearoa, and we’re delighted to be bringing all of their on-court action this season to Kiwi viewers live and free.

“With almost 15.4 million streams on the TVNZ+ sports hub in its first year, it’s clear that there’s a massive appetite for live and free sport in New Zealand. When you combine our digital audience with the unmatched reach of TVNZ’s broadcast channels, this new partnership will give more Kiwis the opportunity to be inspired by some of the most exciting and talented basketball players in the country.”

With four championship wins, the BNZ Breakers’ history of success is unrivalled by NZ franchises in other major Australian sports competitions, and with a new head coach for 2024, they’ll be looking to make a big impact this season.

BNZ Breakers CEO, Lisa Edser, said she was excited about BNZ Breakers basketball being widely accessible to all Kiwi fans.

“We are thrilled for TVNZ to bring our games live and free to fans all over New Zealand. Our supporters are the heartbeat of our club, and this partnership will allow more of them to engage with the team than ever before.

“Basketball is a sport that brings people together and it’s important for us to have our games widely accessible, especially for the next generation of fans. We want to build a legacy that goes beyond the court and into communities across New Zealand.” said Edser.

BNZ Breakers 2024/25 season starts at 8pm on Saturday 21 September when they take on the Brisbane Bullets in the first round.
